Our Mission

The Power of Pink was founded in 2011 to raise funds to support organizations that provide breast health education, screenings and treatment to women in need the greater Washington area.  Over the past 8 years we have raised and given over $800,000 to Arlington Free Clinic, Breast Care for Washington DC, Capital Breast Care Center, Mary's Center, and Mercy Health Clinic. The fund is housed at the Greater Washington Community Foundation.

Our History

Our Mission

Our Mission

Jill Beam Kougl was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997 and then again in 2000.  As a way to honor her sister, Karen Beam Leder started the Power of Pink to recognize Jill's strength, courage and determination exhibited throughout her treatments and surgeries.  Exercise was a way for Jill to cope with her breast cancer and it is incorporated in most of our events. Many women diagnosed with breast cancer do not have the resources or support that Jill had so the Power of Pink was started to help these women.

Our Events

Our Mission

Our Events

Our flagship workout events take place in October at Equinox in Bethesda and Tysons Corner followed by a luncheon at a local restaurant.  Our shopping events, Paint Bethesda Pink and Paint Clarendon Pink,  also occur in October where retailers donate a portion of their sales to the Power of Pink. Thought the year we host other more intimate health and wellness events to raise funds for the cause.  100 percent of all funds go directly to our beneficiary organizations.
